I have a question!

If you are struggling to find specific background information, learn more about any energy related subject, intelligent heating systems, modern power generation, new building technologies, standards and methods or just want to know why NOx is measured: why not just place your query here? Sometimes there are stupid answers, but there are no stupid questions.

What makes it a low carbon house?

What is the official definition and how can it be achieved for existing and/or new houses and homes? What are the advantages or disadvantages?

Decentral power generation - a way out?

With the grid supplying electricity in a most inefficient way, decentral generation of electricity is supposed to be the future. How will we overcome the lobby?

Stirling and Gasification

The Stirling engine principle allows for generating electricity from heat/hot air which could be produced from any organic material like waste, wood, sewage and even manure from farming. Please share your knowledge, experience or just your thoughts, here.

Biogas, pro et contra

Animal farmers have the option to ferment manure and drive a generator from the biogas produced; the electricity can be supplied back into the grid. But what about the monster biogas plants that need hundreds of tons of energy maize, water and wheat flour to produce biogas? We think this concept is definitly not sustainable . What do you think?

CHP + off-grid

Please share your thoughts and hopefully experience with CHP units firing off-grid applications. That is hoping that rockenergy's installation is not the only one...?

Mobility as in flying...

If CO2 and friends is what causes the changes of global climate, can we really afford to maintain a culture of cheap flying and limitless mobility? ... for the masses?

De-celeration: slow down!

Slowing down from our daily stampede to be faster, better, more successful and more beautiful might be a recipe to find a more sustainable attitude towards each other and the globe. What do you think?

Wrap up the cow!

In order to avoid the climate catastrophe some scientists are calling for taxes on emissions from cows - a so-called methane tax as this GHG is 23 times worse than CO2. Will enclosed farming systems offer solutions?
